Through all BCM subjects, engagement is something that ties down the relevant subjects and concepts needed to complete this degree. The two main concepts and ideas BCM 325 focuses on are cyberculture and cybernetics. The intersection between cyberculture and cybernetics has profoundly impacted social media, shaping how we interact with each other and the world around us. Cyberculture refers to the culture that has emerged due to the widespread use of digital technology; in contrast, cybernetics refers to the study of control and communication in machines and living organisms.
Cybernetics has largely impacted and stimulated a vast range of research related to machine intelligence, for example, Artificial intelligence, decision-making, control theory, machine learning and much more. (A. Pickering 2010)
Throughout our BCM 325 class, we have delved into the theme of AI, exploring how this technology is changing our world and impacting various aspects of our lives. As part of this exploration, we have been using Twitter to share our thoughts and ideas on the topic and engage with others interested in this area. It was also tasked to relate Twitter content to anthocropone, cybernetics, and cyberculture themes.
I started with very little reception. I was unsure of the target for the assessment. My first-ever tweet was simply a fact surrounding West World (1973). From this point onwards, I began to understand and interpret the tasks for this assignment.
Tweets relating to lecture content and media attention.
Twitter Posts I retweeted/replied to due to enjoying the content.
One of my best conversation threads was shown throughout this post; I tweeted.

This tweet concerning Blade Runner was one of my most significant conversation starters. It leaked into Chris replying and asking a question and benjamin discussing the exploitation of the replicants, gaining lots of reception and creating a chain reaction of conversation all relevant towards West World.
Retweeting...
Elena's tweet on the possibility of AI animals sparked discussions in our BCM class about the impact of creating indistinguishable artificial animals on society and the environment. It shows how social media can engage people in complex topics, and I retweeted it to encourage further discussion.
I needed to retweet Carla's post as it takes on a great point of how we, as humans, treat AI, forcing us to question our human morals.
Self-evaluation
At the onset of my Twitter project, I encountered challenges in effectively presenting the diverse themes and idolizations highlighted by the tutor every week. Nevertheless, as I gradually became more at ease with the platform, I shifted my focus towards generating content that conveyed the concepts and themes covered in class.
With sustained exposure to the platform, I noticed that I was able to significantly augment my engagement levels, primarily by creating effective tweets that resonated with my target audience.
My experience with Twitter proved enlightening, exposing me to diverse perspectives on movies and content reviews. Initially, I received minimal feedback and comments, but I was grateful for any response. Nonetheless, the real-time opportunity to analyze and engage with the film texts was rewarding. I consciously tried to stay up-to-date with the related content to stay abreast of the weekly themes.
