Unleashing the Power of Live Tweeting

In my BCM325 journey, live tweeting during tutorials has become a fundamental part of my active engagement and learning process. I have explored AI technology, cyberculture, the future of AI, futurists, cyborgs, and cyberspace by seamlessly integrating subject concepts into my content creation and sharing. This interactive approach has enhanced my understanding of these topics and fostered meaningful connections with my peers. Join me as I share the transformative impact of live tweeting and the profound insights gained along the way.

Week 5

During week 5, the focus was on cyberculture, explicitly exploring the themes of cybernetics and cyberpunk in which can be seen throughout the analysis 'Her', 'Alita: Battle Angel', and 'Ready Player One'. Immersing myself in these movies has strengthened my understanding of how cyberpunk is depicted within various settings. Through analysing and comparing the representation of hackers across these films, I have identified common themes and differences in the portrayal of this futuristic genre. Engaging in live tweeting and sharing these insights has further enriched my understanding of cyberculture and the ability to connect with other peers through Twitter.

Week 7

During week 7, the focus was on the future of AI and the different perspectives held by pessimists, pragmatists, doubters, and optimists. This was explored throughout the movie ‘Her’. By connecting various texts to this theme, I have developed a more profound comprehension of the diverse views regarding the impact of AI, ranging from potentially destructive consequences to utopian advancements. For instance, through live tweeting about the film 'Her', I analysed multiple perspectives on the future of AI depicted in the movie, in which question the boundaries between humans and machines. Additionally, I dove into discussions about the potential negative impacts we could see in the real world if we let AI take over out humane thoughts.

Week 8

In week 8, the focus was on futurists, whereas this week, I actively engaged in live tweeting sessions by adopting a futurist perspective while analysing 'Arrival'. By examining these texts through the lens of someone interested in shaping and predicting the future, I could critically analyse the themes and ideas presented within them. The themes of futurism, Anthropocene, and transhumanism were evident within my Twitter post, which relates to the #bcm325 weekly content. Moreover, I actively engaged with my peers by retweeting the tweets I thought had great insights. Doing so encouraged critical thinking and increased involvement with the subject matter. These themes were also discussed and explored through 'Her' and 'Alita: Battle Angel' which we later went on to study. Through this immersive journey, I have unearthed a profound appreciation for the deep significance of these texts in the vast realm of futurism.

Week 9

Week 9 focused on cyborgs and their representation through the movie 'Alita: Battle Angel, a 2019 sci-fi action film'. Throughout the live-tweeting sessions, I actively engaged with the theme, which sparked contemplation about the complex connection between humans and technology. I explored how cyborgs are depicted in various texts, as well as touching on themes of transhumanism, with characters seeking to enhance their bodies and mind. This exploration also enabled me to recognise the distinctive portrayals of these themes, both for good and evil.

Week 10

In week 10, the focus was on cyberspace. I began digesting the cyberspace themes in the film 'Ready Player One, developing a more excellent knowledge of the possibilities and challenges of technology's increasing incorporation into our daily routines. This exploration has specifically illuminated the film's intriguing questions about technology's influence on human society and what it means to escape it. Throughout this week, I actively engaged in retweeting and commenting, prioritising the generation of meaningful discussions. Consequently, I have gained a deeper comprehension of the complex interplay between humans and technology and the potential societal ramifications that may arise.

Week 11

We evaluated the movie 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' during the final week of live tweeting. This film dove into various themes and concepts represented throughout the previous weeks. This includes transhumanism, cyberspace, interconnectedness, transhumanism and, of course, the ideas surroundings AI's future ability to get complacent in society. The film delves into interconnectedness and the capacity to navigate multiple realities concurrently, embodying the futuristic notion of surpassing boundaries and embracing unprecedented opportunities. This week was the most reception received on my weekly tweet gaining likes and retweets, and the reception I provided to other students to ensure I remained actively engaged.
